New Bowie IcePlex Project Begins Today

Friends of StatMonsters, the Bowie Hockey Club are celebrating the exciting kickoff of the new Bowie IcePlex project. Though many a great face-offs have taken place at the current Ice Arena at Allen

Pond Park, the rink which was built in 1971 is ready to provide even more fun and riveting competition for kids and families at its planned state-of-the-art facility.

The new Bowie IcePlex is expected to open in approximately two years. It will consist of two sheets of ice, locker rooms, meeting space, lobby, and concession area. It will be built on city-owned property on Church Road (near the US 50 overpass) in Maryland.

The current Bowie Ice Arena is home to the Bowie Figure Skating Club, Bowie Hockey Club, Bowie High School Ice Dogs, and the Bowie ISI Figure Skating Team.

The Ice Breaking Ceremony for the new IcePlex takes place today, October 25 at 4 PM at its future home at 4247 Church Road in Bowie, Maryland.
